Discernment as predictor for transformational leadership: a study of school leaders in Catholic schools in India

Transformational leaders are who ‘transform and inspire followers to perform beyond expectations while transcending self-interest for the good of organisation’. ‘Discernment’ is defined as individual communal practice decision-making that oriented on future (educational aims), conditioned by personal qualities (purity heart), which emphasises teleological ethics source reliance. In line with this concept, a scale discernment was constructed tested in research study 198 Catholic schools Don Bosco India. leadership measured an existing part Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. The results show (as measured) strongest predictor transformational leadership, controlling background variables (such age, gender, religious background, position, type school, private or government-aided schools).
